Kate Ryan, the stage name of Katrien Verbeeck (Tessenderlo, Belgium, 1980), is one of the best-known voices of 2000s European dance pop. She broke through in 2002 with her dance cover of Mylène Farmer's “Désenchantée”, which spent six weeks at number one in Belgium, reached number 2 in the Netherlands and the top 5 in Spain. It was followed by “Libertine”, “Mon cœur résiste encore” and “Voyage, voyage”, all reworkings of French classics, alongside her own material. She represented Belgium at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest with “Je t'adore”. Her albums include “Different” (2002), “Stronger” (2004), “Alive” (2006), “Free” (2008) and “Electroshock” (2012), and she continues to tour European festivals.
