Chris Liberator is the stage name of Chris Knowles, a British DJ and producer regarded as one of the key figures of London acid techno. He began DJing in the early 1990s at squat parties in North London with the Liberator DJs collective, alongside Aaron and Julian Liberator, and in 1993 they founded the Stay Up Forever label, a reference for the London acid techno sound, later joined by sister labels such as Cluster. His discography runs to dozens of releases, collaborations and aliases, and he has played clubs and festivals across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. Before turning to electronic music he was a member of the punk band Hagar the Womb.
